NCAA Guidelines

If you are a coach or administrator at an NCAA member institution and you are embarking on a fundraising effort, it's important to know the rules! Here is a summary of the Guidelines which pertain to My Sports Dreams:

  1. It is permissible to use a letter to solicit contributions to a team.
  2. It is permissible to use the image of one or more current student-athletes in a fundraising letter provided the image(s) and the athlete(s) are not endorsing a commercial product or service.
  3. It is permissible to solicit contributions only on behalf of the entire team but NOT on behalf of the individual student athlete.
  4. All money contributed to the team must be used to benefit all student athletes equally, whether or not a particular student-athlete participated in the fundraiser and regardless of their individual fundraising results, athletic ability or reputation.
  5. Contributions may not be directed or "earmarked" to a specific student-athlete unless the money is coming from an individual upon whom the student-athlete is naturally or legally dependent.
  6. Contributions to the team must be made out to the team and/or the institution (e.g., not the individual student-athletes).

We want you to know that My Sports Dreams complies with these rules, but you need to do so as well. Winning at fundraising is a team effort between you, your student-athletes and My Sports Dreams.
